This original posting title “Alexander Casassovici’s review on TWUIK” has been amended. We apologise if we use Alexander’s name without first asking him. On hindsight, we should have used a different title rather than a blogger’s name, or at least seek his permission. But look at the content of our posting (scroll to the end). We did not add anything to make up the story, we are just saying he did say some positive remarks about the toolkit from his blog posting, from his video review and also his email reply to us.

…………………
And quoting this from his blog post…
“Anyway I was quite impressed by the rendering effect and the quality of the engine….” - From mobitrend blog…
As for giving out the SDK, we had already said in our past postings, that we are not ready to release a free evaluation copy of the SDK due to our commercial arrangements with some existing customers, and we believe we said that clearly in our email reply to everyone asking for demo or SDK evaluation.
As for mika’s comments, it was merely his views and opinions when he posted his comments in Alexander’s blog, we only cut and paste his comments here. You can check mika’s blog comment here -> http://mobiko.blogs.com/mutant/2006/10/twuik_video_rev.html…
Having said all these, if our posting did cause any trouble to Alexander or we have upset you in any way, please accept our sincere apologies.
…………………
Our original blog post… as below…
Alexander CASASSOVICI did a review after seeing our demo on DeviceAnywhere… The DeviceAnywhere demo is not as smooth as running on actual device, we are working on a different demo solution that would best showcase the full features of TWUIK… please check this blog for update on this. Also the SonyEricsson Demo could not be shown due to a fault with DeviceAnywhere setup, we apologise for that.

See his video demo here -> http://vpod.vpod.tv/alexksso/33945/videoPlayer/fs/autoPlay/0
Anyway, Alexander, thanks for giving a positive review.
Mika summarizes Alexander’s posting aptly…
hi… agreed that DeviceAnyWhere could not best demonstrate the full features of TWUIK, I had seen it running on real devices, so i must agree with you on this. It is far more impressive to see it running live on devices.
The 150KB footprint is for the FULL functionality of TWUIK + the application demo code and resource files (e.g. images). The real footprint of TWUIK ranges from 80KB - 120KB, depending whether you are opting for the LITE or STANDARD version.
As for comparison with Streamezzo, they are a client-server solution, that means any applications built on Streamezzo requires a server component, not easy sell if you are talking about selling this to developers. TWUIK is client-only, it’s a small compact library for creating graphically-rich user interfaces on portable devices. TWUIK is also a platform-independent graphics engine specially tailored for presenting user interfaces.
Traditional UI-technologies do not allow designers to create or modify the user interface visuals without major impact on the UI software resulting in longer development times, less creativity, and in the end lower quality of the user experience. Embedding TWUIK Rich Media Engine (RME) will quickly enhance the user experience for many of the common UI framework components such as the idle screen, menu systems, call logs, and picture viewers.
As for FLASH LITE engine, if you have seen FLASH LITE on Nokia Series 60 devices, you would have noticed the runtime library alone already takes up a whopping 400-600KB, excluding applications.

Tricastmedia stop fooling …
When I made a review of Tricastmedia’s TWUIK last week, I think my words were pretty clear : looks good, might be good, but I need to see further and more in details to check if this can really be…

Alright. Apologies if we have used your name in our blog posting. But we gathered our feedback from your blog posting and the email you wrote to us after we gave you the demo, we did not make up the story.
Here\’s the original email reply from you.
