We had purchased another batch of new devices, mostly the latest phones… to test/port existing Tricast Mail and TWUIK. We hear your feedback. We aim to increase our list of supported devices running TWUIK and Tricast Mail.
Things may have seemed a little quiet around here since our public launch back in April ‘06, but our team is still hard at work making changes and improvements to the products (Tricast Mail and TWUIK) and the free mobile mail service www.alwayssend.com. Change is constant here, and Tricast Mail & TWUIK are alive and growing and we want to thank you for making this a fantastic year for us.
We have to apologise for the delay in launching the PROfessional version of Tricast Mail which will include a very good attachment viewer. So much R&D and development work have been carried out in the last couple of months that we are now ready and confident to share with you Tricast Mail PRO will definitely launch in Q1 ‘07. In fact, we have already been testing Tricast Mail PRO for the last 2 months. In addition, TWUIK v2.0 is also in active development and we are pretty sure you would find this GUI toolkit, the most powerful, if not, the most complete and polished library of rich UI components that you would ever need for midlet development.
Change is afoot, so stay tuned for detailed release notes in the coming weeks.

It’s Christmas day today… Whilst Santa’s checking his naughty list and the elves are surfing for their last minute Christmas getaway between shifts, the rest of us are busy doing our own bit for Christmas. For our part here at Tricastmedia, we’ve all scattered to our homes and families.
In the spirit of fun that makes this time of year so great, we’d like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year. We hope you all have a fantastic holiday week and that you get some much deserved rest. See you soon…

It’s been a few weeks since we last posted here. We have been up to our neck with the preparation of the next release of TWUIK. A major release, with many enhancements and feature add-ons. You can look forward to a powerful rendering engine that is capable of rendering SVG Tiny and vector graphics types. And a whole slew of UI components such as this 3D navigation menu as seen below.

One of the many UI components added, a 3D navigation menu, totally customizable and you can even set the transparency.

In the next major release of TWUIK, our rendering and display architecture would support vector graphics format such as SVG. Here you can see SVG samples rendered by TWUIK Display Manager…

This is the second part of the tutorial series on the application of TWUIK for a sample mobile application we created here. The first tutorial can be found here. In this Part 2 of the Tutorial, we are going to look at how easy it is to extend TWUIK to create your own UI widget (e.g. IndicatorBar, a kinda of progress indicator with visual effects applied), and also look at some pre-built TWUIK UI components (e.g. PhotoPreviewList, a sort of a thumbnail UI) and lastly we look at how we could use TWUIK’s transformation FX engine (TFFXGeometry) for rescaling and/or rotating an image, and the rescaling algorithm can be one of two types: nearest-neighbor interpolation method () or bi-linear interpolation method.
