One of the main reasons for success of traditional internet may be its openness and uniform platform for PCs. Browsers are relatively standardised and the tools to create databases and complex systems, such as Linux and SQL, are widely and freely available as open source software (OSS) through General Public Licenses (GPL). We took this video to show TWUIK Transition Effects (”Transition” is one of 3 Visual Effects Library available, the other being “Transformation” and “Motion”) run on a low-end Nokia S40 handset. It gives me great pleasure to announce that Prudential Inc (US)’s first offshore technology division - Pramerica Systems Ireland, has become a customer. Tricast Mail v1.6.2 is launched, buy it from our online shop. This is the final version of v1. We are most excited about v2, powered by TWUIK, our in-house Graphics and Animation platform for rapid UI development on JavaME/DOJA/BREW devices.

Latest… we have been working with the fine folks at Yap, using TWUIK to create their UI. The past months of labour has bore fruits. They just won the most no. of votes at Mike Arrington’s TechCrunch40 event. Read full story here.

We have been nominated and chosen to present at the “Under The Radar - Mobile” (UTR) conference on 15th Nov ‘07. Matt Marshall of VentureBeat called Under the Radar the “American Idol competition for startups”… to be in the final is already an honor. We are glad to announce that TWUIK 1.5 is ready as a BETA. Our teams are busy putting the finishing touches to the system. We expect to be ready to leap into the public beta-testing phase in the coming weeks.

We are excited about the coming release of TWUIK 1.5. It’s been 3 months since we released TWUIK and we had signed up customers at a rate of almost one every month. Customers are telling us how much they love TWUIK and how our technology makes it so easy to create the kinda UI, not possible with other products.

By end next month, we are going to launch TWUIK 1.5. This is a major release as it’d feature our new rendering engine, a slick layout manager and component APIs to create “widgets” type of mobile applications, connecting to web services and mashups.

TWUIK also has a much-improved code base over previous versions. Improvements are still happening, you’ll notice significant improvements. Prepare to be (pleasantly) surprised!

More motorola devices added last week…… total no. of supported devices 73 as of today. Watch this space for update next week, Blackberry platform completed porting.

More devices added to our growing list of supported devices for TWUIK and Tricast Mail.

You probably expected this. Yes, we had started Blackberry porting work. So far so good, it looks like we should be releasing a build pretty soon.

Another heartening news, we are going to announce another 30 devices to our list of supported devices, making it more than 100 JavaME phones capable of running TWUIK. Supported devices mean that we had actually tested and the tests passed our internal QA. As for Tricast Mail, another 32 devices would be added this month, surpassing the 100 target we set for ourselves. Announcement to come shortly. Check back a little while.

TWUIK will be OFFICIALLY released really soon with a mountain of new features and cool stuff. We are already shipping TWUIK SDK to some of the world’s largest content providers and operators even before our upcoming commercial launch at this year’s JavaONE, but JavaONE will be a special event for us, it’s going to mark the birth of TWUIK. And we have lined up exciting demos for the show. You would get the chance to see how we use TWUIK to create mockups various applications…

This is going to be a mind-blowing demonstration of TWUIK’s extensibility, power features and ease of use when it comes to creating polished UI for your J2ME mobile applications. We can’t wait to show you the LIVE demos of these UI mockups. We wanted to post some videos, but decided against it. Good things must wait. We are glad to share with you this exciting new development. After a “brief” hiatus from blogging, we are proud to announce that we have launched TWUIK DOJA (DoCoMo Java) v1.0 for our Japanese customers. Check out the latest demo application built with TWUIK on DOJA phones.

The planned release for Tricast Mail 1.5 is put on hold for now. It still has bugs - mostly coming from some really old models which we continue to support - and until we get to a point where we’ve got things settled we will continue to keep it private. But things are getting better.

Tricast Mail 1.5 will be the final release of the Tricast Mail (Personal Edition). From v2.0 onwards, Tricast Mail will adopt a PROXY-based solution, thereby reducing the client footprint size further, and offloading the heavy lifting and processing to the server. What you can expect is multiple fold enhancement in speed of downloads, almost near-instant opening of mail content, and streaming and compression techniques applied to make the over all user experience, resulting in dramatically improved performance. And while normally we wouldn’t be proud of this - we have also fixed a few hundred bugs.

Another announcement is that we have made a conscious decision to release software more often internally and less often externally in order to make a more reliable piece of software in the end. On TWUIK, we have v2.0 coming, but I have nothing new to say for now. Check us out at JavaONE ‘07. So it seems that in the next couple weeks we should be releasing some stuff both as GM and public beta. Crossing Fingers! Stay tuned.

It is no secret that I’m a big fan of conferences. I use them as both a great source of information and a great source of new conversations… 2007 marks an important year for Tricastmedia. We are going to be at JavaONE ‘07. And we’d be officially launching TWUIK. We have also submitted Tricast Mail and TWUIK for the Duke’s Choice Award.

Nothing much has changed, except cosmetic touches to the UI… webmail, pop, imap all included… but with enhanced UI based on our new MTMP (Multiple Transport, Multiple Protocol) architecture. Speed as demonstrated in our earlier video posting.

It’s been a few weeks since we last posted here. We have been up to our neck with the preparation of the next release of TWUIK. A major release, with many enhancements and feature add-ons. You can look forward to a powerful rendering engine that is capable of rendering SVG Tiny and vector graphics types. And a whole slew of UI components such as this 3D navigation menu as seen below.

One of the many UI components added, a 3D navigation menu, totally customizable and you can even set the transparency.

In the next major release of TWUIK, our rendering and display architecture would support vector graphics format such as SVG. Here you can see SVG samples rendered by TWUIK Display Manager…
